Having graduated from one of the most respected jewellery degree courses in both the UK and internationally; Nicola trained at Middlesex University as an innovative and creative jewellery designer. She gained broad experience in both modern and traditional techniques and was supported by the course to develop ideas and pieces which establish a broader definition of the subject. Although Nicola trained in jewellery design, her passion covers the broader subject of adornment. In the last year of her studies she found her work steering in the direction of eyewear. "Eyewear as an accessory inspires me, I am intrigued by its potential to adorn the eyes and transform the silhouette of the face."
Background and Experience
Originally from a small seaside village in Kent, Nicola has always been creative. After school, she went on to study an Art and Design foundation year at UCA in Rochester. It was here she realised her passion for adornment and went on to study jewellery design as a degree. During her degree Nicola had the opportunity to take a year out to gain some relevant work experience. In this year she worked under Husam El Odeh, and Scott Wilson; two well respected jewellery designers in the industry. She assisted in producing their seasonal collections and one off pieces for catwalk or press. The experience she gained in this year was extremely valuable and enforced her love for catwalk jewellery and accessories.
